The story of the tree of life

In many cultures historically has been used the concept of tree of life, there is a very particular variant, which is made by hand in the municipality of Metepec, State of Mexico. These styles of trees of life were originally based on biblical passages, but over time it evolved and was oriented to other themes, which positioned it as an attraction of Metepec.

Although we must say that the tradition of the trees of life does not have its origins in Metepec; but in Izucar de Matamoros, Puebla where these pieces were produced with the theme of the Garden of Eden. The typical trees of life are composed of numerous anthropomorphic figures, surrounded by flowers and other ornaments. They also represent elements such as the sun and the moon and the serpent.

Of all the handicrafts that are made of clay, the tree of life is one of the most special and is considered a great tourist attraction locally, nationally and internationally.
