In the first place, the hands of the artisans transform the material, covering it with beads with various motifs. The result is a true explosion of color also full of sacred symbols. The Huichol culture is guided by pre-Columbian shamanic traditions linked to ceremonies carried out in its historical past.<\/p>\n

This figure was first covered with multicolored beads by hand by a Huichol artisan from the mountains of central Mexico.<\/p>\n

Huichol art is the materialization of a millenary cosmovision and the artisans elaborate symbols such as the eye of God, the peyote, the corn, the scorpion, among others that are synonymous of protection and offerings.<\/p>\n

The work that we see today is the result of an adaptation to the offerings that were previously made by their ancestors.<\/p>\n

It is believed that before the stones found around an anthill were used to create the different ranges of color and make the symbols that would adorn the gourds for offerings; Already with the arrival of beads from the Czech Republic to Mexico, the Huichols changed their material and now make pieces with the same meaning but colours.<\/p>\n

When acquiring a Huichol piece, one must be aware of and respect what it means.<\/p>\n

The energy and what the artisan printed from its symbology is a protection amulet for those who own it. Knowing these stories leads us to value more what the Huichol hands do.<\/p>\n
