Description
Hand carved and hand painted box from Olinala, Guerrero.
Linaloe wood is a white wood with a very particular smell, an exquisite smell. These boxes are made in a collaborative way and the whole process cannot be done by only one artisan. There is the artisan who is dedicated to assemble the box, then it passes to other hands that are dedicated to lacquer the box and are the third hands that make the decoration.
There are three techniques to decorate, the decoration with flowers that is painted by hand (brush tip), the stippling and the scratching technique. The colors and tones are made with natural and vegetable dyes. The sizes and tones can be selected and the boxes are perfect for decorating spaces and storing what is needed. Boxes, trays, kleeneras and jewelry boxes are some of the uses that have been given to this wonderful technique.
