Wooden figure in the shape of a frog hand painted by artisans from Oaxaca, Mexico. In the Zapotec culture, the alebrije is a wild, mystical and protective animal, linked to every individual from birth; it is called nahual. Alebrijes are carved in copal wood and painted by hand.
